Frontier Airlines is set to launch three new routes from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) this spring. Beginning on March 30, 2025, the airline will offer daily nonstop flights to Miami International Airport (MIA). On April 22, 2025, service to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) will commence, operating four times per week. Daily nonstop flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will start on May 1, 2025.

These new routes will expand Frontier’s offerings at JFK to a total of eight destinations, demonstrating significant growth since the airline began operations at the airport in June 2024. To mark the occasion, Frontier is offering introductory fares starting at just $19.
Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier Airlines, stated, “This is an exciting day for consumers as we once again expand our offerings at JFK. With the launch of these ultra-low fare flights to Miami, Dallas, and Los Angeles, we are increasing the availability of affordable travel to top destinations for New Yorkers, as well as making a New York adventure or business trip more affordable for budget-savvy consumers across the United States.”

Analysis
All the routes Frontier is planning to operate have competition, including one of the most premium-heavy routes in the country: JFK-LAX.
As of January 2025, JFK-MIA is served by American, Delta, and JetBlue. Surprisingly, JFK-DFW only has American and Delta, with no service from JetBlue.
Now, the route I’m most excited about is JFK-LAX, one of the most premium routes in the U.S. All the legacy airlines operate special products on this route. I was fortunate to try American’s First Class product twice, and a flight review will be up eventually.
For JFK-LAX, American, JetBlue, and Delta are the key players. United competes on this route from Newark, which is a whole different saga.
I suspect Frontier entering these markets will lower fares on the economy side. However, I don’t think Frontier’s First Class will compete well with the legacy airlines’ and JetBlue’s premium products on JFK-LAX.
I expect fares in the premium cabins to remain the same. However, I do see passengers upgrading from economy on a legacy airline to Frontier’s First Class if it’s priced adequately, especially for a roughly six-hour flight
Are you kidding 1 flight a day is gonna move the market!?? I don’t think so
Of course Frontier won’t be able to compete with the amount of frequencies or product from Delta, American & Jetblue. I was surprised to see Frontier launching a service on one of the most competitive routes in the country.
