Delta Air Lines has announced a new cabin interior design across its fleet, aiming to improve the overall passenger experience. The updated interiors are set to debut on a narrowbody Boeing 757 aircraft this fall, with a broader rollout to the Airbus A350 in early 2025. The launch coincides with Delta’s upcoming centennial anniversary.
The redesign includes new seating materials, enhanced lighting, and updated design motifs. According to Delta, the goal is to create a more comfortable and inviting atmosphere for passengers. Mauricio Parise, Vice President of Customer Experience Design at Delta, stated that the refreshed cabin “infuses utility with beauty,” aiming to align with passengers’ evolving preferences.
Updates for All Cabin Classes
Delta’s cabin overhaul spans all classes, from Delta One to Main Cabin. Widebody jets will feature memory foam cushions and breathable seating materials. Lighting systems have been re-engineered to match different phases of the flight, with warm lighting for boarding, ambient tones during meals, and softer shades for rest periods.
Parise highlighted the focus on passenger comfort, explaining that the lighting adjustments aim to “create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive.”
Enhanced Seating Options
The interior upgrade includes new materials and design adjustments across all cabins. Delta One seats will be covered in a wool and nylon blend for better temperature regulation. Delta Premium Select and First Class seats will feature memory foam cushions with engineered leather. In Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin, passengers will find new seats with updated materials, including memory foam cushions on widebody aircraft.
Refreshed Design Elements
Delta’s new interiors include a modernized color palette, incorporating softer shades and natural materials. Branding elements such as the Delta widget logo and seat tags are present throughout the cabins. The design also includes updated motifs like the Infinite Grid and Celestial Sky patterns, intended to evoke a sense of connectivity and the excitement of air travel.
Lavatories will also see updates, featuring brighter walls, an accent wall, and improved flooring for better cleanliness and safety.
Rollout Plan and Goals
The new cabin design will first appear on a Boeing 757 aircraft, serving domestic and short-haul international routes later this year. The Airbus A350, featuring the updated interior, will follow in early 2025 for long-haul international routes. Delta plans to extend these updates across its entire fleet over the next few years.

Looking Ahead

Analysis
These upgrades an evolutionary update rather than a revolutionary update to Delta’s product. It also means for the next few years Delta’s fleet will lack consistency, however, I am happy to see Delta prioritizing the Boeing 757. I flew on a Boeing 757 in 2023 and it was showing a clear need for an update. Once the updates are complete the Boeing 757 and Airbus A321 Neo will have a similar first class cabin (A321Neo flight review coming). My favorite part of Delta cabin is the cabin lighting above I’m glad they kept it as part of their cabin updates.
